How We Got Started
The Idea for Travel Chile Insider
One afternoon, chatting about local hot springs, a Chilean friend mentioned how much of the helpful travel information in Chile, especially in our region, is in Spanish…
That got us thinking… maybe we could share with fellow English-speaking travelers how to get to hidden waterfalls, which hot springs are unlike anything you’ve seen before, and where to find a good cup of coffee.
For years, we’ve been giving guests at our family-run bed & breakfast all the insider tips about where to go and how to get around… so why not share them with everyone?
➣ If you want helpful Chile travel information from people who live and travel in Chile often, you’ve come to the right place.
➣ If you’re looking for destination guides to uncover Chile’s hidden gems, activity recommendations for both adventure and boutique trips, as well as general Chile travel tips, we’ve got you covered.
➣ If you’ve been dreaming of exploring Chile and Patagonia, you’re steps away from making that dream a reality.
We’re starting with the places we know best, from Santiago down to Villarrica (our hometown) to Patagonia. As we grow, we look forward to creating guides for all of the major destinations in Chile.
Let’s Get to Know One Another
I’m Chantel, the founder and main writer here at Travel Chile Insider, and for the past 11 years, I’ve lived in Chile.
Together with my Chilean husband, Rodrigo, we’ve combined our travel notes, to create these insider guides, both from his insight as a Chilean native and mine as an American transplant.
We both love to travel. Combined, we’ve been to over 20 countries, and of course all over our “home” country, Chile.
However, for the past 6 years, we’ve been receiving travelers, helping my family run our boutique hotel in the southern Araucania region.
With the same hospitality we show to our guests, we want to share our local knowledge with you so that your time in Chile will be enchanting, effortless, and unforgettable.
We’ve had the opportunity to visit many amazing places and experience the joy that comes with catching a glimpse of a culture, cuisine, and heritage beyond your own.
Travel Chile Insider is our way of inviting you to do the same: a welcome to our backyard, guiding you through Chile’s wonders.
